Betfair and Newbury Sponsorship Deal

Betfair announce sponsorship deals with Newbury National Hunt Meeting and RTE.

Leading online gambling company Betfair have recently announced that they are to sponsor February's National Hunt Meeting, held at Newbury.

As part of the three year deal, the Totesport Trophy will be renamed the Betfair Hurdle race. This hurdle race is one of Europe's richest, with prize money in February's race set to be £152,500.

Betfair has also released details of its sponsorship of RTE's horseracing for 2012. The Irish national broadcaster had 23 days racing in one year, including popular events such as Royal Ascot, Leopardstown, Cheltenham and Punchestown.

Betfair spokesman, Barry Orr, said, “Betfair is excited to join RTE Sports for sponsorship of their media coverage. Being one of the long time supporters of racing of Ireland, this huge investment will help to secure the latest coverage of all races and sports across RTE”.
